Terrapin Age Group Swimmers Shine at Speedo Far Western Championships

Eighteen Terrapin swimmers competed in the 2018 short course Speedo Far Western Championship April 5th-8th in Santa Clara, CA.  The age group swimmers led the way with multiple Top 10 swims.  Two 10-under girls, Kaya Andresen and Elizabeth Joseph, had best times in almost every event they swam. Joseph made the Finals (Top 10) in the 100IM, 200IM, and 500FR.  The 11-12 age group was led by 11 year old Lily Streumpf, who posted best times in 5 out of 6 events and made the Finals (Top 10) in the 50 FL, 100FL, 100BK, 50FR, and 100FR.  The 13-14 age group was paced by Maile Andresen and Sophia Miller.  Andresen posted best times in all 6 events she swam.  Andresen’s highlight swim was winning the 100BK, but she also made the Finals (Top 10) in the 50FR, 100FR, and 200BK.  Sophia Miller got 2 best times and made the Finals (Top 10) in the 200BR. 17-18 Robert Mitchell led the way for the older Terrapin Swimmers winning the 1650FR and placing 2nd in the 1000FR.  Mitchell also had best times and made finals in the 500FR, 100 FR, 100Fly, and 100BK events.  Other local swimmers with best times from the Terrapins were: Diana Chan, Aden Li, Deniz Jones, Sofie Curran, Jasmine Kohlmeyer, Zack Chau, Mark Blankley, and Jake Rafac.
