The Terrapin’s Age Group Team put together an outstanding series of championship meets to end their 2022-2023 Short Course Season.  The coaches are so proud of all the swimmers for their ability to focus and continually improve throughout the season, and then top it off with even more amazing performances to end the season off.

The series began with the 2023 Pacific Swimming Short Course 14&Un Age Group Championship Meet on March 10th-12th.  The team had a strong group of twenty-three 14&Unders qualify for the meet who racked up many new best times along with a plethora of Top 10 Finalists making the Terrapins Team one of the top teams of the competition. Marina Didenko won high point for the 11 year old girls division, and Morgan Wendler won high point for the 12 year old boys division.

Next the Team attended the final c/b/bb+ meet of the season, hosted by the Terrapins Swim Team at the Concord Community Pool, where many of the team’s younger and up and coming swimmers finished of their season with a bang.  Many of the swimmers blew away their end of season goals, with many achieving new time standards.

The final meet of the season was the 2023 Pacific Swimming Short Course Far Western Championship Meet on March 30th – April 2nd.  This meet is considered to be one of the fastest age group meets in the country, many teams from out of state travel here to participate, and we were proud to have 24 Swimmers representing our Team.  The 11-12 boys group of Giovanni Castanenda, Fedor Igoshin, and Morgan Wendler lead the way with multiple top 3 finishes including a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 Butterfly.  Morgan Wendler won high point for the 11-12 Boy category.   The Terrapin team as a whole was able to rack up a total of 213 points placing them 8th place overall in the meet, out of over 85 teams that attended the meet.  This is an amazing accomplishment due to the fact that all the teams placing higher have a much larger team size of 300-700 swimmers on their team. while the terrapins have less than 100 swimmers on their team. The Terrapins were the highest ranking local USA Swimming team at the meet.
