The Terrapins Swim Team sent 20 Senior level athletes to compete at the 2021 CA/NV Long Course Sectional Championships in Roseville, CA July 15-18th. This was the first “higher level” meet the team has participated in over the past year and a half. The environment was packed with energy and featured over 650 athletes from all over California and Nevada. The Terrapins squad finished 16th on the Women’s side, 5th on the Men’s side, and 11th overall combined.

The team had tons of best times and achieved several new cuts of note. Leading the way was veteran Adrian Dulay, who won the men’s 200BR and was 5th in the 100BR (both new National cuts) and he was top 27 in the 200IM. Gigi Baldacci won the consolation final of the 100BR and also made the bonus final in the 50FR. Danila Litikin won the consolation final in the 200BR and was 3rd in the consolation final of the 100BR (he was also top 27 in the 200IM). Diego Castaneda was very impressive in his first Sectional Meet. Diego made the championship final of the 400IM and also made top 27 in the 100BK, 200BK, and 200FL (new winter JR National cut). Diana Chan contributed on the women’s side with a Top 27 performance in the 100BK, 200BK, and 100FR. Jessica Larson also scored for the women in the 100BK. Mason Wendler was noteworthy in his first Sectional Meet making Top 27 in the 400FR. The team banded together for some very strong relay performances with the men taking the bronze in the 400 Medley Relay the last night. The group had a great time and were very supportive of each other all four days. It was so awesome to be back at a regional championship meet. Looking forward to many more to come!!
