TERRAPINS SCORE 3RD PLACE TEAM FINISH AT 2019 FAR WESTERN CHAMPIONSHIPS
“11-12 Boys lead team effort by sweeping all 4 relays” “Newcomers rock at First ever Long Course Champs”
The Terrapins Swim Team scored the highest team finish of all local teams at the 2019 Far Western Championships held at the Soda Center pool in Orinda. The Terrapins scored 577 points to get 3rd place behind the Santa Clara Swim Club and Pleasanton Seahawks.. The Terrapins outdistanced other local teams Crow Canyon(5th), Orinda(6th) and the Aquabears (21st) to score the highest Far Western finish in years.
Leading the team effort once again where the incredible 11-12 boys, Aiden Li, Diego Castaneda, Mason Wendler and Christian Ceja. The boys won all 4 relay events (200F.R. 400F.R. 200MR and 400MR) with Christian Ceja contributing vital relay swims for the 4 victories. The 11-12 boys scored in 20 final top 8 races with Mason Wendler scoring in the 100 free(2nd), 200fr(3rd), 100Bk (3rd), 50br(2nd) 200Br(3rd) and 200IM(2nd). Aden Li(12) scored in the 50bk(2nd), 100bk(4th), 200fly(2nd), 100fly(2nd), and 50fly(2nd) and Diego Castaneda had the meet of his life swimming in 7 finals including a sweep of the 50fly,100fly and 200fly races by winning all 3. These boys are just in their first year of Terrapin Year Round swimming and already posting some of the top times in the United States for 11-12 boys.
First year Terrapin swimmer Abbey Keller(10) also had a great meet, making 4 individual finals and scoring valuable team points in her age group. Other top TERA Far Westerns swimmers were:

Maile Andresen(15) – top 8 in 4 races including a 1st place 100fr
Moragn Wendler(9) - top 8 in 5 races

Danila Likitin(16) – top 8 in 5 races and a NEW Summer Junior National time in the 100br
Andrew Rodriguez(18) – top 8 in 3 races and a Summer Junior National time in 100bk
Adrian Dula(16) – 3 first place finishes in the 100br,100fly,200br and Summer Junior National times in the 100br and 200br
Niklas Weigelt(18) – 1st place 50 free
