The Terrapins swam to a 3rd place team finish at the recent Arena Grand Challenge held at Clovis North HS in Clovis , CA  from July 6th through the 8th. The team scored 1054 points behind the Santa Maria Swim Club who scored 1063 points and the host team, Clovis Swim Club with 1427 points.

The team swam over 75% best times with Serafina Celentano, Ryan Cesmat, Aden Li and Jasmine Kohlmeyer leading the team effort.  Serafina Celentano (15), in her first year on the Terrapins from summer rec swimming (Dana Hills), swam to 100% best times in all 6 of her events, Jasmine Kohlmeyer(15) and Aden Li(12) also swam 100% best times in their 6 events and First year Terrapin Swimmer Ryan Cesmat (14-Crockett Swim Team) swam 5 best times. Both Ryan and Aden will be swimming at the Pacific Swimming Junior Olympics at the Terrapins host pool on July 12-14.

The Grand Challenge is an annual meet for the Terrapins and a meet that the team swims with little rest or taper, yet continually produces tremendous results. This year’s meet was interrupted by a 7.1 earthquake that shook the team hotel and put all swimmers on edge. The aftershocks continued strongly throughout the meet and provided a very unusual backdrop to the competition. The Terrapins are now gearing up for the Pacific Swimming Junior Olympics and also the Pacific Swimming Far Western Championships to be held the last weekend of July. The team has high expectations for both meets with a record number of Terrapins competing in both meets.
