Terrapin Junior National Squad records 7th place team finish

The Terrapins had 10 swimmers competing at the recent Junior Nationals West Championships at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

Leading the group was 17 year old Alexei Sancov who swam blistering times at his first ever Junior National swim meet. Alexei went 4:19.85 in the 500fr, 1:34.06 in the 200fr and 43.46 in the 100fr. Alexei won the 200fr and was 2nd in the 100fr event. He also contributed to the mens’ strong relay swims.

14 year old Andrei Minakov also had an outstanding meet, swimming some of the fastest times ever swum for 13-14 boys in the US. Andrei swam to a 4th place finish in the 100fly with a 47.78 swim(2nd fastest in US history). He also swam to a very fast 45.28 100fr and was part of the men’s fast relays.

Also contributing to the men’s team efforts with life best swims were Gennady Sytnik(17) who swam 3 life best swims: 100bk 49.81, 200IM 1:53.25, 200bk 1:52.17.

The men’s relays swam very well and scored top 8 in all relays swum. The 400 free Relay swam to a 4th place finish with a 3:01.01 swim(Nate Barsanti, Tyler James, Andrei Minakov and Alexei Sancov), a 5th place finish in the 200Free relay 1:22.82(Nate Barsanti, Tyler james, Andrei Minakov, Alexei Sancov) and a 5th place finish in the 400MR 3:21.16 (Gennady Sytnik, nate Barsanti, Andrei Minakov, Alexei Sancov).

The women’s team was led by 15 year old Emily Lo who swam to a 5th place finish in the 200breast with a 2:12.96 and 10th place finish in the 100breast with a 1:01.73. Jessica Larson and Sasha Liu also contributed best time swims at the meet.
